The existing system, which relies heavily on manual updates and is not fully integrated with social media channels, will be replaced by the MapAlerter service.
Duplication of work for staff at Kildare County Council is one of the reasons why the current 'Kildare Alerts' messaging system is being phased out.
In the last 6 months, almost 100 alerts have been published via the system.
However, according to the council, the existing system, which relies heavily on manual updates and is not fully integrated with social media channels, will be replaced by the MapAlerter service.
This new platform will provide a more streamlined approach, offering notifications via text and email, and integrating with social media.
The transition is set to begin in Q4 2024, with full implementation expected shortly after.
