EirGrid has launched a public consultation on a major grid upgrade for Kildare and South-West Dublin, as the existing electricity system in the area nearing its capacity limit.
The project includes a new substation at Steelstown near the South Dublin/East Kildare border, and a substation near Castlebaggot.
These will be linked by new circuits connecting to existing substations in Maynooth, Inchicore, and Carrickmines.
Locals can give feedback online or by post by Friday, June 27th, and attend public events to learn more.
This feedback will be considered alongside landowner engagement.
