Stephen Morrison has won the Teagasc Farm Forestry Award at The RDS Foundation awards.
The Kildare-based farmer and woodland owner has been rewarded for his planting of 24 hectares of native forestry, as well as a conversion of his farm to an organic system three years ago.
He has also earned recognition following his establishment of hedgerows, digging of farm ponds and the preservation of a unique fen which has enhanced biodiversity on the farm.
Mr Morrison has a family farm at Hartwell, outside Kill.
The RDS Foundation Awards took place during a ceremony as part of the Finding Common Ground Festival.
The Teagasc Farm Forestry Award celebrates working farmers who are integrating forestry and farming for environmental, social and economic benefits.
