A number of checkpoints were carried out across the county in the past 7 days
In the past week, Gardaí in Kildare have arrested 27 motorists for driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs.
At one checkpoint in Kilcock, a driver tested positive for cannabis and was arrested for drug driving.
Their car was also impounded as their tyres were in poor condition and its NCT was out since 2023.
Penalties for drink and drug driving include disqualification periods ranging from 1 to 6 years, fines up to €5,000, and up to 6 months imprisonment.
Meanwhile, at another checkpoint in Newbridge, a driver drove up to the checkpoint without his seatbelt on.
He had it buckled behind his back to stop the alarm in the car.
He was fined €120 and was issued with three penalty points.
