It's part of a national message reminding householders to take simple steps to protect their homes
Gardaí in Kildare have launched a Lock Up, Light Up anti-burglary campaign for this winter.
It's part of a national message reminding householders to take a few simple steps to protect their homes.
On social media, Kildare Gardaí said : "Burglars often take advantage of darkness and unsecured properties. Don't make it easy for them".
It says simple steps can make a difference, such as:
Lock Up: Secure all doors, windows, side entrances, garages and sheds.
Light Up: Use timer switches, sensor lighting or smart lights to make your home look occupied.
Set Your Alarm: Use your house alarm, even when you are only going out for a short time.
Protect Your Keys: Keep car and house keys away from windows and letterboxes to prevent fishing.
Secure Valuables: Keep cash and jewellery out of sight and avoid leaving valuables on display.
