Charity Shop On Kildare Border Forced To Temporarily Close After Damage Caused During Break-In

On social media, it said their shops were "completely wrecked" after the incident.

Kildare-based animal charity My Lovely Horse has suffered a break-in to their Edenderry shops, causing extensive damage in the process.

The damage was sustained to the My Lovely Vintage Edenderry and My Lovely Hoofs & Boots shops in the area on the night of 3 November, or potentially in the early hours of the morning of 4 November.

On social media, it said their shops were "completely wrecked" after the incident.

As a result, they have been forced to close "for the foreseeable future" to allow for repairs following the extensive damage to the property.

It said it was "absolutely heartbroken and devastated" to learn of the damage.

"Someone smashed their way through the front window, broke windows at the back and went on to destroy so much inside. Items were smashed, things that we had treasured and used as displays for years were ruined, and the whole place was left in an awful state.

"We honestly cannot understand why someone would do this. We are already working so hard, taking one step forward and what feels like twenty steps backwards. This is another devastating blow for our little rescue," it added.

My Lovely Horse also thanked Gardaí for "responding, catching the person responsible, removing him from the premises and, most importantly, staying with us until the premises was secured and boarded up".

The charity concluded their social media post by saying: "We are heartbroken, we are angry, and today we are picking ourselves up yet again".

Gardaí have been contacted for comment in relation to this incident.
