The works aim to enable 900 new homes in the area
Uisce Éireann have completed a "major" €8.5 million wastewater upgrade for Celbridge.
Announced in January, the works aim to enable 900 new homes in the area.
The Maynooth Transfer Pipeline project is also progressing with completion expected next year.
It says this project is upgrading the wastewater network, increasing the capacity to deliver reliable, sustainable high-quality wastewater services for the community.
Across Ireland, Uisce Éireann invested €454.4 million in wastewater infrastructure during 2025, an increase of more than €120 million compared with the €333 million invested in 2020.
Total wastewater investment since then has exceeded €2.5 billion.
It comes as the EPA released report detailing that 93 per cent of wastewater treatment plants are now meeting EU standards.
The data highlights improvements in wastewater treatment, following "significant investment" by the utility.
Uisce Éireann also acknowledges the EPA’s concerns regarding operational incidents.
It comes as raw sewage is being discharged in 11 towns and villages across Ireland every day.
The latest report from the EPA also found treated wastewater failed to meet EU standards in 13 large towns and cities.
Its criticising Uisce Eireann for poor management of wastewater treatment plants.
In a statement to Kfm News, UÉ said:
"Many of the challenges facing the wastewater system are associated with ageing infrastructure, parts of which have been in place for decades and were not designed for the demands now placed on the network.
"Addressing these challenges through continued investment and modernisation remains a priority. Uisce Éireann operates a vast wastewater network nationally, incorporating more than 1,000 wastewater treatment plants, 2,300 pumping stations and over 26,000 kilometres of wastewater pipes," it concluded.
