The scheme funds upgrade works on non-public rural roads and laneways providing access to homes, farms, and outdoor amenities.
Kildare has received the lowest allocation in the country under the Government’s 2025 Local Improvement Scheme (LIS).
Just over €102,000 in additional funding has been awarded to the county - bringing Kildare’s total to €566,862 out of a national LIS budget of €30 million.

The scheme funds upgrade works on non-public rural roads and laneways providing access to homes, farms, and outdoor amenities.
Kildare’s allocation falls below that of smaller counties like Leitrim, Longford, and Carlow.
The Department of Rural and Community Development says allocations are based on the level of works each local authority can complete before year-end.
