Kildare North TD To Outline Plans For State-Funded Salary Boosts To Draw Top Academics To Ireland

The Government would fund up to 50% of the salaries offered by Irish universities to these recruits.

The Government's making a pitch to poach top professors from abroad - especially from the US, where they say a major "brain drain" is underway.

A new global talent initiative will offer boosted salaries to lure world-class academics to Ireland.

Kildare North TD and Higher Education Minister James Lawless says 75% of US-based academics are considering relocating, having lost financial backing under the Trump administration.
