Funding confirmed under a national heritage scheme will support interpretation work at a historic site in Kilcullen, as part of a wider €365,000 allocation across several counties.
Kildare is set to benefit from a new round of heritage funding announced to coincide with World Heritage Day, with part of a €365,000 investment directed towards projects on Ireland's Tentative World Heritage List.
Among the allocations is funding linked to the Royal Sites of Ireland, which includes support for interpretation work at Kilcullen. The project forms part of a broader package that also covers locations in Roscommon and Westmeath.
In total, 11 projects across counties including Kildare, Offaly, Kerry, and Sligo will receive backing under the World Heritage Strategic Investment Fund for 2026. The scheme, established last year, is aimed at supporting conservation, research, and public understanding of sites with potential UNESCO World Heritage status.
Other funded projects include conservation work at Birr Castle in Offaly and developments linked to early transatlantic communications heritage in Kerry.
The fund is administered through the National Monuments Service and is designed to assist in protecting and presenting sites considered to have significant cultural or historical value, while also improving access or awareness for local communities.
