Kildare TD Calls On Minster To Allocate More Resources To The Passport Service.

112,000 applications are pending, including 2,393 from Co. Kildare.

A Kildare TD is calling on the Foreign Affairs Minister to allocate more staff to the Passport Service.

This year,  office has received almost 400,000 passport applications.

112,000 applications are pending, including 2,393 in Kildare.

The workload is being handled by around 500 staff.

Kildare South Sinn Féin TD, Patricia Ryan, says many of those staff are having to work weekends to cope with the backlog.
