The account, run by Thea Von Engelbrechten from Kildare, has 2.5 million TikTok followers and one million on Instagram, and features adult-themed parody videos using the dolls.
The creator of the popular TikTok account SylvanianDrama is being sued by Japanese toy company Epoch, the maker of Sylvanian Families.
The account, run by Thea Von Engelbrechten from Kildare, has 2.5 million TikTok followers and one million on Instagram, and features adult-themed parody videos using the dolls.
A video posted on Von Engelbrechten Instagram page.
Epoch, according to the Sunday Independent, filed a lawsuit in New York alleging Von Engelbrechten used the dolls in advertising content without permission.
The company claims this infringes its copyright and trademarks and could mislead consumers into thinking the content is endorsed by Epoch.
Epoch said TikTok briefly removed the account last year but reinstated it after Von Engelbrechten claimed the videos were parody.
The company is now seeking damages and a court order to stop the continued use of its intellectual property.
