Kildare has fewer operation fire service members than Meath and Wicklow.
That's despite having a higher population, and largely comparable geographical area.
Data released by the Department of Housing shows there are 63 operational firefighters in Kildare.
The county also has 10 officers.
The total compliment in Wicklow is 98, and in Meath, 77.
