There are over 5,000 people waiting on driving tests in Kildare.
That's a sharp increase from 3,900 at the start of the year.
Nationally, over 100,000 people are waiting on tests.
Kildare Senator, Fiona O'Loughlin, raised the matter in the Seanad today.
She says Kildare should be prioritised for the allocation of additional centres, aimed at clearing the backlog.
