Mr. Deegan was killed in September
The life of Newbridge soldier Robert Deegan will be celebrated in a special service this Saturday, December 14th.
Mr. Deegan, a former member of the Irish Defence Force's elite Army Ranger Wing, travelled to Ukraine in 2022 to fight against the Russian invasion.
He was subsequently killed near the city of Kupiansk in the Kharkiv region on the 19th of September this year.
In a post on RIP.ie, his family thanked everyone for the "immense support", which enabled them to travel to Ukraine to bring Robert's remains home.
The family are hosting a ceremony in Newbridge Bible Church at 12 midday this Saturday.
On completion of the Church ceremony, at approximately 1pm, buses will be waiting to bring Military, Ex Military & Friends to give a final salute on the Hill of Allen.
Refreshments will be served afterwards in Maloney's Pub in Newbridge.
