The murder happened four years ago in North Kildare.
Stephen Penrose, was handed a life sentence today for the murder of Phillip Finnegan in North Kildare four years ago.
After firing his legal team during the trial, Penrose represented himself for a while, during which time, he questioned Philip’s mother, Angela, about her evidence.
In her victim impact statement, Ms Finnegan spoke about the devastation of their loss and she accused Penrose of going out of his way to torture her even further.
Stephen Penrose, of Newtown Court, Malahide Road, Coolock, Dublin 17, tried to make a statement after he was sentenced but the judge wouldn’t allow it.
