A group of protestors have gathered outside Powell Electronics in Clane to block a shipment of components allegedly being sent to the largest supplier of weapons to the Israel Defense Forces.
Powell Electronics, which has a facility in Clane, sent two shipments of components to the Elbit Systems Cyclone plant in Karmiel, Israel in October and November 2024, according to Editor of The Ditch Eoghan McNeill who spoke to Kfm last week.
It's understood that the facility in Israel makes parts for the F-35 and F-16 fighter jets.
New records obtained by The Ditch allegedly show that the Clane-based firm sent components to Elbit Systems as recently as two weeks ago.
Kfm has contacted Powell Electronics for comment.
Speaking to Kfm, Siobhain Grogan, a member of the Kildare branch of the Ireland Palestine Solidarity Campaign, said some locals have decided to make a stand.
Kfm reiterated that it is not yet known what the components are being used for, with Ms Grogan calling for clarity on their alleged use.
Sinn Fein TD Shonagh Ni Raghallaigh is also at the protest.
She said she requested a meeting with Powell Electronics but has not had a response.
She said the group, Kildare branch of the Ireland Palestine Solidarity Campaign, have sent a letter to the company outlining their concerns.
