Motorists encouraged to avoid the area.
Motorists are being encouraged to avoid the Kildare Town, Curragh and Newbridge areas this morning.
There are lengthy traffic delays as the M7 motorway has been closed for overhead power cable works.
Traffic is being redirected between Junctions 12 and 13, along the old Curragh Road and though Kildare Town.
The 8 kilometre stretch of the M7 is due to reopen at noon.
