Emergency services were called to a house at Oaklawn West where a fire had been brought under control.
Gardaí are investigating two linked incidents in Leixlip after a man’s body was recovered from a reservoir and a woman was found seriously injured following an incident in a nearby home.
Emergency services were called to a house at Oaklawn West where a fire had been brought under control.
A woman in her 50s was treated at the scene before being rushed to Connolly Hospital in Blanchardstown with serious injuries.
It is understood that the man attacked his ex-partner before taking his own life.
The woman managed to escape, despite being seriously injured.
The property has since been sealed off for a full technical examination.
Shortly after 6am, the Garda Water Unit recovered the body of the man, also in his 50s, from the Leixlip reservoir.
Detectives are appealing for witnesses or footage. Anyone who was in the Oaklawn West area, on the N4, or near the reservoir between 5.30am and 8am - and who may have dash-cam or other video - is asked to contact Gardaí.
