24-year-old Valeriu Melnic fatally stabbed 39-year-old Ion Daghi at The Close, Sallins Park, Sallins in 2024
At the Central Criminal Court today, a 24-year-old man has been found guilty of manslaughter, after he fatally stabbed his sister’s partner.
Valeriu Melnic, with an address at Callaighstown Lower, Rathcoole, pleaded not guilty to murder but guilty to the manslaughter of 39-year-old Ion Daghi at The Close, Sallins Park, Sallins on May 12th, 2024, according to the Irish Times.
Mr Melnic told gardaí he was “so drunk” that he could not remember stabbing Mr Daghi, who died from a single stab wound to the chest.
A sentence hearing for Mr Melnic is expected to be held on November 3rd.
Mr Melnic will be remanded in custody until that date.
