Officials insist the project remains a priority under the county’s Capital Programme.
Over €6.5 million in development contributions has been secured for a long-promised public swimming pool in North Kildare — but Kildare County Council can't reveal where the facility will be built.
Despite mounting pressure from councillors, including Fianna Fáil’s Bernard Caldwell, who proposed Leixlip Amenities Sports Centre as the preferred site, the council says it “cannot discuss in detail possible site locations assessed or under assessment,” warning that disclosure could prejudice sensitive negotiations.
Officials insist the project remains a priority under the county’s Capital Programme, and design options are being explored to fast-track construction once a site is agreed.
