Agriculture Minister says maintaining strong links with Britain's largest buyers is key to protecting Ireland's biggest export market.
Kildare South TD and Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine Martin Heydon has travelled to the UK as part of efforts to support Ireland's beef industry in its largest export market.
The visit, organised in collaboration with Bord Bia, included meetings with food industry suppliers, processors and major buyers of Irish beef in Birmingham.
The UK remains Ireland's largest agri-food export market, with exports valued at €8.1 billion in 2025. Irish beef accounted for €1.7 billion of that total, representing a 19% increase on the previous year. Since 2021, the value of Irish beef exports to the UK has risen by 60%.
Minister Heydon said the visit provided an opportunity to hear directly from suppliers and customers about the current market and future opportunities for Irish beef.
He said maintaining strong relationships with key UK buyers is important to protecting and growing Ireland's position in the market.
Bord Bia Chief Executive Jim O'Toole said continued engagement with customers is essential as both the Irish and British beef sectors face changing market conditions.
