Mother Whose Son Drowned Warns Parents Not To Buy Blue Swimsuits For Their Children

Olivia Espie’s son Ryan died in a swimming pool accident in Lanzarote 25 years ago.

A bereaved mother who's five-year-old son drowned while on a family holiday is keeping his memory alive by teaching others about water safety.

Olivia Espie’s son Ryan died in a swimming pool accident in Lanzarote 25 years ago.

The Dungannon woman has since created a water-safety book for children and campaigns on social media.

42 people have died in our waters this year that's 10 more lives lost since the same time last year.

Ms Espie said she still sees companies selling blue swimsuits for children which "is the worst colour" in a pool because "your child needs to be seen".
