A male suspect entered the home of the woman, before he assaulted her and tied her up
Gardaí are investigating after a woman in Naas was tied up and seriously assaulted in her own home.
It occurred on Bank Holiday Monday (26 October) at around 3:15pm in the Halverstown area.
The incident was among a number of crimes highlighted by Naas Garda Mo Nerney as part of Kildare Today's weekly Crimewatch edition.
A male suspect entered the home of the woman, before he assaulted her and tied her up.
Gardaí say the victim sustained "quite extensive injuries to her face" and was "held against her will".
It is believed that the male had been watching the victim's movements for a period of time prior to the incident.
Garda Nerney described the aggravated burglary as a "very distressing and serious incident", while also wishing the woman injured a speedy recovery.
CCTV enquiries are currently ongoing and the detective branch in Naas are investigating the incident.
They are appealing to anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in the Halverstown area on Monday 26 October at 3:15pm to come forward.
They are particularly interested in a "Khaki green Renault Hiaus van", while also trying to establish a getaway vehicle that was used.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Naas Garda Station on 045-884300, or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111.
