The food bank says their reserves of food are probably at their lowest since the project began over a decade ago
The Newbridge Parish foodbank, Share Food, is appealing for donations from people in the area as they are running short of stock.
The food bank has been operating in Newbridge for almost 11 years, and has been giving weekly food parcels to about 120 individuals and families during that time.
The food bank says their reserves of food are probably at their lowest since the project began over a decade ago.
The Share Food co-ordinators say that many recipients are in dire need of assistance and the parcels they receive from Share Food each week are a huge help in feeding families when resources are scarce.
Share Food welcomes all kinds of in-date tinned and dry food as well as toiletries.
Donations can be given at three large supermarkets in the town - Dunnes, Tesco and SuperValu as well as the three churches in the parish - St. Conleth’s, Cill Mhuire Ballymany and the Dominicans.
Financial donations are also welcome, as money is used to purchase fresh food for each parcel e.g. meat, potatoes, bread or cheese.
The co-ordinators hope there will be an ongoing generous response to their appeal and that their service to the poor of Newbridge will be able to continue as normal.
