Newbridge LEA Has One Of Highest 14 Day Covid-19 Incidence Rates In The Country

7 out of 8 Co. Kildare LEAs have 14 day incidence rates above the national average

Newbridge's 14 day Covid-19 incidence rate, for the 2 weeks to Monday, 13th December was 1902 cases, per 100,000 of the population.

675 people living in the Newbridge LEA tested positive for the virus.

7 of the 8 local electoral areas in Co. Kildare had incidence rates above the national average, which was 1,305 cases per 100,000 people for the same 14 day period.

Maynooth LEA had the next highest rate, at 1,890.

562 Covid-19 infections were recorded in that 2 week period.

Naas LEA had a rate of 1,715; 671 people living in the area were diagnosed with the virus.

Celbridge LEA had an incidence rate of 1,692; 366 infections were recorded in the area.

The incidence rate for Kildare LEA was 1,685 cases; 433 people were diagnosed.

Clane LEA rate was 1,466 cases; 417 infections recorded.

Leixlip LEA 14 incidence rate was 1,381 cases; 219 people were diagnosed with the virus.

Athy local electoral area was the only LEA in Co. Kildare with an incidence rate below the national average, at 1,202 cases per 100,000 people; 319 infections were recorded.

Co. Kildare has the fourth highest 14 day Covid-19 incidence rate in the country, at 1,483 cases, per 100,000 of the population.

For the 2 weeks to midnight on Wednesday, 3,300 people in the county were diagnosed with the virus.

Co. Kildare's incidence rate remains above the national average, which stands at 1,314.

62,577 infections were recorded in the Republic during those 14 days.

Co. Carlow has the highest incidence rate in the country at 1,893.5 cases.

Westmeath has the next highest rate at 1,577.

Counties Mayo, Roscommon, Cavan & Limerick all have incidence rates below 1,000.
