While, nationally, 27,000 homes are currently in a position to be connected to the network.
Officials told the Public Accounts Committee, of which Kildare TD, Catherine Murphy is deputy chair, that the target is still to connect over half a million homes by 2027.
Secretary General of the Dept of Communications Mark Griffin says there are many issues that contributed to the original target being missed
