Prof. Philip Nolan stood down from his role at the Kildare university at the end of September.
The outgoing President of Maynooth University has been appointed Director General of Science Foundation Ireland.
Prof. Philip Nolan led the Kildare college for a 10 year period, which concluded at the end of September. He has been succeeded in that role by Prof. Eeva Leinonen.
Prof. Nolan has been a member of NPHET since the beginning of the pandemic, and is Chair of its Modelling Advisory Group
