The funds will be transferred with a view to advancing Irish music and literature
Over €200,000 in proceeds from O' Modhrain Hall in Newbridge is to be given to the local Irish language group Cill Dara le Gaeilge.
In total, €211,504.65 will be transferred to the group with a view to advancing music and literature, particularly in the Irish language.
It also says that they should "form, establishment or support of any other Charity or Trust" with similar objectives.
The notice is available to read at Newbridge Library.
In a social media post, O' Modhrain Memorial Hall praised the good work of Cill Dara le Gaeilge throughout the county and noted the notice requires the funds to be spent solely in the “Newbridge local area”.
They have also suggested that they engage with trusted local organisations such as Newbridge Community Development and Crooked House Theatre company who have decades of experience in the town and who could support a meaningful project which honours the legacy of Eamonn O’Modhrain which was the objective of the Hall and the promotion of Irish language, music and culture – particularly among young people.
They concluded by saying that any objections to the proposal o Kathleen Nolan, Wilkinson and Price Solicitors, 53 South Main St, Naas, quoting reference number SR73187, with a deadline of July 22nd to do so.
