The figures show how parking generated over €5 million in income and a €1.6 million surplus across five years.
Parking fines in the Newbridge Municipal District have more than doubled in recent years - contributing to a significant surplus in the council’s parking system.
In 2021, the council collected €188,815 in fines.
That jumped by 58 per cent to €298,298 in 2022, before rising again to €395,005 in 2023.
Income peaked at €439,810 in 2024.
While there was a slight dip last year, fines remained high at €432,740 in 2025.
In 2025, total parking income was just over €1.16 million, compared with running costs of about €835,000.

The council says expenditure covers staffing, enforcement, meter maintenance, cash collection and payment systems.
