Today is the last chance to register to vote before the General Election.
As locals prepare for the upcoming election, Aontú, People Before Profit, and the Green Party have announced key policies addressing immigration, disability services, and childcare.
Aontú has proposed a border agency to manage immigration, part of a new policy aimed at accelerating the asylum process. The party is committing to resolving all asylum applications within six months and to deporting anyone who destroys their travel documents during the process.
People Before Profit, meanwhile, has released a disability justice manifesto, accusing Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael of a century of neglect toward people with disabilities.
The party promises a special class in every school to support students with disabilities and pledges that all children will receive their required assessments within six months by fully staffing Children’s Disability Network Teams.
TD Paul Murphy said six-month assessment timelines are already mandated but lack the political commitment for enforcement.
The Green Party, if re-elected, is promising free childcare for low-income families and a payment cap of €200 per month per child for higher-income households.
They also plan to invest €7 billion from Apple tax funds into large-scale public transport projects.
Today is the last chance to register to vote before the General Election.
Around 600,000 young people are eligible to register, and can do so online.
Anyone wanting to vote in the upcoming election is being encouraged to head to check-the-register-dot-ie and sign up with their PPS number, Eircode and date of birth.
