Patients Paying ‘Illness Tax’: Naas Hospital’s €38K Revenue Limited By Broken Parking Machines

Almost 16 million euro was pocketed by Irish hospitals in 2023 according to a new report from Irish Country Living.

Advocates for free parking at hospitals say patients and their families are paying an "illness tax" just to get their medical treatment.

Almost 16 million euro was pocketed by Irish hospitals in 2023, according to a new report from Irish Country Living.

Naas General Hospital collected over €38,000.

The figure would have been higher if machines were not out of order for most of 2023.

Tallaght hospital collected over €700,000.

Speaking on Kildare Today, Journalist Margaret Hawkins said it was good for "patients" that machines were out of order at Naas General Hospital.
