Gardai are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
A pedestrian in her 80s has died following a suspected hit and run in Dublin.
The crash involving a car and the pedestrian happened at the junction of Fortunestown Way and Cheeverstown Road shortly before 11 o'clock this morning.
Officers say the car, which initially failed to remain at the scene, has since been identified and recovered by Gardaí and a technical examination will be carried out.
The road is closed for an examination by Forensic Collision Investigators.

Any road users or pedestrians who may have camera footage (including dash-cam), and who were travelling on Fortunestown Way or Cheeverstown Road, this morning between 10:30am and 11:15am, is asked to make this footage available to Gardaí.
