Astronomers say there is no need for telescopes to catch a glimpse of the phenomenon
Clear skies tonight will likely give stargazers the chance to spot a meteor shower over Ireland.
The Perseids shower, which occurs annually, has been visible in recent days but will be at its peak tonight.
