At the moment, in nearby Rathcoole, residents have a Garda station that does not operate at full-time capacity.
The Department of Justice is considering handing an area of the newly acquired Citywest site to Gardaí.
Following a meeting with local representatives this week, a recommendation has been made for a 24-hour Garda station on the grounds.
It follows recent violence and demonstrations in the area.
At present, Rathcoole’s Garda station does not operate on a full-time schedule.
It also lacks interview rooms and holding cells.
