Other tenants reported withheld deposits, unresolved mould issues, and ignored complaints.
John O’Connor, a landlord in Athy, has been penalised by the Residential Tenancies Board (RTB) following multiple tenant complaints.
Safinatu Kamara (21) was awarded €4,500 after being illegally evicted while pregnant.
O’Connor, according to the Irish Independent, cut off utilities and failed to fix severe maintenance issues in her apartment at The Harbour apartment block.
Kamara, who fled Sierra Leone in 2019, is now in homeless accommodation.
Other tenants reported withheld deposits, unresolved mould issues, and ignored complaints.
O’Connor has not responded to inquiries.
