Gardai say it appears the motorist, in his 60s, has never had a driver's licence.
Proceedings are underway against a motorist in Kildare who produced a "fake" driver's licence at a checkpoint.
The operation was mounted by Naas Roads Policing Unit and the Road Safety Authority
Two vehicles were seized.
One was being driven by a motorist holding a fake licence.
Gardai say it appears the man, in his 60s, had never held a driving licence or learner permit.
The vehicle was also uninsured.
