It comes as 89 per cent of politicians say they've felt anxious or afraid in the face of harassment or abuse

Between 8 and 10 protestors demonstrated outside Fianna Fail TD James Lawless' house in Sallins last night.

Deputy Lawless was out canvassing in Naas when he received a phone call from his wife to say that individuals with tri-colours and placards were outside his front gate.

Mr Lawless returned home and is said to have spoken to some of the protestors to try and diffuse the situation and An Garda Siochana were also at the scene.

It's believed the protestors were unhappy at the level of refugees coming into the country, with some holding placards saying "close our borders" and "no to illegal immigrants".

This is the latest in a number of recent protests targeting TDs houses, as Simon Harris and Paul Murphy were also targeted in their homes in the last few weeks.

It comes as 89 per cent of politicians say they've felt anxious or afraid in the face of harassment or abuse.

A new survey of Oireachtas members found 94 per cent had experienced some form of threat or violence.

Deputy Lawless had this to say after the protest.
