Kildare has been recorded as one of the counties with the lowest vacancy rates
Local authorities are being held up from taking ownership of derelict and vacant properties because the Compulsory Purchase Order (CPO) process is extremely slow.
Speaking on Kildare Today, Cllr Aoife Breslin said local authorities are being held up by red tape.
She said although Kildare has been recorded as one of the counties with the lowest vacancy and dereliction rates, a more proactive approach is needed if the issue is to be addressed.
