Residents on a Kildare road have reported that they are struggling to safely exit their own driveways due to motorists travelling at excessive speeds.
Naas Roads Policing Unit recently carried out a speed checkpoint on the R417 at Kilberry, following concerns raised by local residents.
A number of motorists were detected speeding during the checkpoint.
The drivers caught speeding all received a €160 Fixed Charge Penalty Notice and three penalty points.
In a statement, Kildare Gardaí said "speeding is not harmless. It reduces your reaction time, increases stopping distance and puts other road users at unnecessary risk".
