The damning review formed part of the €1.6 million active travel project now under intense scrutiny after auditors identified a range of significant design concerns.
Figures seen by Kfm News reveal how the audit cost €4,750 plus VAT.
The report, first reported by Kfm News, warned how aspects of the current layout could pose risks to motorists, cyclists and pedestrians.
It warned that stop lines are set too far back from junctions, reducing visibility for drivers entering the R448.
It also points to inconsistent speed limit signage, an overuse of cyclist warning signs, and signs obscured by vegetation or dirt.
In several locations, road markings and cycle crossing markings were missing or incomplete, reducing clarity for all road users.
