Supporting local film making and celebrating new talent in Kildare
In June 2024, Kildare County Council awarded Rye Films the Short Grass Film Commission Award, providing €12,500 to support a local film project.
The film, titled "Heartsick," is a break-up comedy-drama written and directed by Mary-Kate Quane, with production by Aisling Malone and Lorraine Higgins.
It was filmed in Kildare in September. Kildare County Council has supported over 50 films through this initiative, aiming to promote the county as a welcoming place for filmmakers.
