The site will facilitate the replacement and expansion of the existing Curragh Post-Primary School, catering to 1000 students.

The sale is now closed for the acquisition of an 8 acre site at Magee Barracks in Kildare Town.

The site will facilitate the replacement and expansion of the existing Curragh Post-Primary School, catering to 1000 students.

Independent TD for Kildare South Cathal Berry said: "The shortage of secondary school places in Kildare South has been an ongoing issue for years, which I highlighted with the Minister for Education and in the Dáil chamber numerous times. Glad to see there is finally some positive progress and hopefully this will help to alleviate some of the pressure."
