Conservationists hope to create a virtual dive trail.
The team preserving the site of Ernest Shackleton's lost ship ‘Endurance’ say it will remain accessible, despite deciding to leave it under the sea.
Kildare native Shackleton, who was born in Kilkea in 1874, led a famous expedition to achieve the first land crossing of Antarctica.
However the ship became trapped in dense ice and sank in 1915.
The vessel was located last year.
Conservation experts say the wreck is "stable" and shouldn't be moved.
They now hope to create a virtual dive trail so people can explore it at home.
