Local residents have raised concerns about speeding in Standhouse Lawns in Newbridge.
A local councillor in Newbridge has said that some drivers are treating one of the roads in an estate there like the Mondello Park track.
It comes as local residents have raised concerns about speeding in Standhouse Lawns in Newbridge.
Speaking on Kildare Today, Social Democrats Councillor for Kildare-Newbridge MD Chris Pender said he had been contacted by residents about the issue:
"I had been contacted by residents in relation to this, it's one big long straight road that ends at the top and because it's a long straight road, some people are treating it like it's Mondello. Unfortunately people are feeling unsafe to cross, and generally feeling unsafe in the area."
He added that children coming out of local schools like Scoil Mhuire are at risk of colliding with a vehicle on the road, as parents often park on the side of the road to collect their kids from school.
"We're seriously at risk of a child running out between two cars, someone being at speed and not having enough time to slow down before they injure somebody."
Cllr Pender welcomed the council's response that the area engineer will do an assessment of the road, and should they deem works to be necessary, that they will implement traffic calming measures there.
