The status yellow weather warning is in place until 11pm tonight.
A Status Yellow weather warning has been issued for 15 counties including Kildare as thundery conditions and rain are expected to return.
Kildare is expected to see thunderstorms bring frequent lightning and heavy downpours with gusty winds and a chance of hail.
There will be a risk of localised flooding in these areas and it is expected to be difficult to travel during these conditions.

Meanwhile, today will be cloudy with some heavy and thundery showers forecast throughout the day.
Despite this, temperatures are set to reach between 18 and 22 degrees in some parts of the country, Met Éireann has forecast.
