The therapeutic farm, slated to be established as part of this development, is designed to provide a nurturing environment conducive to mental health recovery.
In a bid to enhance mental health care services, a proposal for the development of a therapeutic farm in Straffan, doubling as a healthcare facility catering to up to 40 guests, has been granted.
The project, located at the former Portree Stables, Boston in Straffan, aims to operate as a step-down mental health facility, offering crucial support to individuals transitioning from acute care settings to community living.
The proposed initiative entails the demolition of an existing farm building along with other structures, followed by the construction of a new two-storey communal building and associated site works.
The therapeutic farm, slated to be established as part of this development, is designed to provide a nurturing environment conducive to mental health recovery.
With a capacity to accommodate up to 40 guests, the facility intends to offer comprehensive support services tailored to the needs of individuals navigating various stages of mental health challenges.
The project boasts a two-storey communal building. This central structure is slated to serve as the heart of the facility, housing vital amenities including kitchen and dining facilities, offices, therapy rooms, and spaces dedicated to activities such as yoga and meditation.
Further bolstering the accommodation capacity, eight single-storey residential buildings are set to be constructed to the west of the communal building.
These residential units, comprising a mix of four-bedroom and six-bedroom configurations, aim to provide comfortable living spaces for the facility's guests as they undergo mental health rehabilitation.
