Within that total, the Athy Municipal District accounts for €595,000 of the street sweeping budget.
Kildare County Council is spending almost €3.5 million per year on street sweeping services across the county, with a further €1.5 million allocated for wider litter management measures.
These additional costs cover community wardens, illegal dumping clean-ups, bottle bank maintenance, and support for Tidy Towns groups.

The figures were released following a query from Fianna Fail Councillor Veralouise Behan on the scale of local litter management costs.
