Maynooth University has recorded an increase in the number of students disciplined for plagiarism this year, although it does not specifically track cases of cheating related to artificial intelligence (AI).
According to university data published in the Irish Independent, 132 out of 16,113 students were penalised for plagiarism this year, marking a rise of 51 cases compared to the previous year.
Last year, 81 Maynooth students had been disciplined for plagiarism out of 15,774 students.
