Taoiseach Says Patients Shouldn’t Pay for Blister Packs - But Says State Can't Pay For Everything

It's emerged the HSE will not fund such packs in future.

The Taoiseach says there needs to be engagement with the Irish Pharmacy Union over the cost of medicine 'blister packs'.

These are plastic containers used to organise tablets for people who use a large number of medicines.

It's emerged the HSE will not fund such packs in future.

Taoiseach Micheal Martin told the Dail he doesn't think there should be a charge, but insists the state can't pay for everything.

Sinn Fein's Finance Spokesperson Pearse Doherty is strongly criticising the government over the matter.

He took issue with the Taoiseach's assertion the government has reduced costs in the healthcare sector.
